The MicroStar Lab, LTD. management team and staff are committed to ensuring accurate and timely microbiological testing services, and through communication with our customers along with an understanding and implementation of a quality management system, in accordance with ISO 17025 standards, continually improve the processes and systems that nurture and deliver the highest standards of laboratory testing.

About Us


The MicroStar Lab, Inc. is an industrial microbiology lab that began its testing services with specializing in microbiological tests that apply to the paint, paper and building materials industries.  Out of the specialization, our expertise in mold-resistance testing for those industries and many others also developed. The lab is specially equipped with laminar flow hoods to contain any spread of fungal spores, UV sterilization of the circulating air to reduce cross-contamination and a warm room designed to handle high volumes of mold testing.  Strict attention is paid to the temperature and humidity specifications of all test protocols with NIST-traceable standards used to monitor all test equipment.  ASTM methods, such as the D3273 and G-21 require significant expertise to achieve consistency and reproducibility for each set of tests.  This level of excellence can only be attained through proper training, internal audits, a dedicated management team and years of experience. The MicroStar Lab has developed a reputation for being an industry leading in these particular methods.


Our other areas of testing expertise include building materials, paint, paper and textiles.  Technical consulting in regard to biocide applications is available for paint preservation and papermachine slime control.  Our textile applications are also growing since the addition of the ASTM E1428 Pink Stain test to our testing scope.


If you are not quite sure what testing is right for your application, our experienced staff is always available to discuss your concerns and assist you in determining if a standard method will meet your needs of if modifications to the standard methods are required to demonstrate particular attributes of your material.  Consulting services, new method development and general microbiological research projects can all be accomplished by the MicroStar staff.  We will consider bringing into our testing portfolio any unique microbiological methods that you might need.  An example of this may be a Challenge Testing that has been designed by your customer to qualify your products by his purchasing department.


We pride ourselves in having the flexibility and creativity to offer solutions to many microbiological testing issues. 


Our ISO 17025 accreditation through American Association of Laboratory Accreditation was granted in July of 2009. The scope of the accrediated tests can be found here.
