In this test method, a sterile molten agar is inoculated with a test organism
and then the agar slurry is dispensed onto the surface of the test pieces.
Bacterial reductions for specific contact times are measured. The sample is
defined as 6 - 3” x 3” test pieces for each time point. The test requires Time =
0 and Time = X, with X being 1 hour, 8 hours, 24 hours, or selected time
interval. Since each time point requires 3 test pieces, additional test pieces
would be needed for additional contact times.
- Eight to ten working days are required before results are issued if commonly
tested organisms are used.
- The test organism must be selected by the customer. Common choices are
Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, or Klebsiella pneumonia, but many
other organisms in our culture collection would also be available.
- Additional organisms are billed as additional tests. Please be sure to submit
enough material for all of the time points and organisms requested.
- An untreated control sample is also required and is considered an additional
test sample.
