Have your own tests?

If you have a specialty test or a modification to a standard test that you would like us to perform, our team is ready to customize a standard test to better represent the properties of your matrix.  Our scientists will work with you to make these changes or design completely new test methods.

ASTM E2149

Standard Test Method for Determining the Antimicrobial Activity of Immobilized Antimicrobial Agents Under Dynamic Contact Conditions

In this test, the substrate treated with an immobilized antimicrobial is exposed to a suspension of a selected bacterium for a designated contact time. The suspension is tested to determine the reduction in the bacterial population over the contact time. Price includes the pre-test for leaching. If the customer requests that the leaching pre-test not be performed, the report will stipulate that it is a Modified test method and that the leachability of the active from the samples was not determined prior to the test per customer instructions.

  • A methanol rinse for laundered material is an additional per sample charge. A 24-hour contact time is also an additional an additional charge.
  • An untreated control is required and is billed as an additional sample.
  • Additional contact times do not require additional test pieces.
  • A sample is defined as 1 test piece, varying from 0.5 to 2 grams, but various substrates can be used, i.e. metal coupons, concrete pieces, fabric, etc.
  • Eight to ten working days are required before results are issued if commonly tested organisms are used.
  • The test organism must be selected by the customer. Common choices are Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli, or Klebsiella pneumonia, but many other organisms in our culture collection would be available.
  • Additional organisms are billed as additional tests.
