In this test, the substrate treated with an immobilized antimicrobial is exposed to a suspension of a selected bacterium for a designated contact time. The suspension is tested to determine the reduction in the bacterial population over the contact time.
Price includes the pre-test for leaching. If the customer requests that the leaching pre-test not be performed, the report will stipulate that it is a Modified test method and that the leachability of the active from the samples was not determined prior to the test per customer instructions.
- A methanol rinse for laundered material is an additional per sample charge. A 24-hour contact time is also an additional an additional charge.
- An untreated control is required and is billed as an additional sample.
- Additional contact times do not require additional test pieces.
- A sample is defined as 1 test piece, varying from 0.5 to 2 grams, but various substrates can be used, i.e. metal coupons, concrete pieces, fabric, etc.
- Eight to ten working days are required before results are issued if commonly tested organisms are used.
- The test organism must be selected by the customer. Common choices are
Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli, or Klebsiella pneumonia, but many other organisms in our culture collection would be available.
- Additional organisms are billed as additional tests.
