Standard Test Method for Evaluating the Performance of Antimicrobials in or on
Polymeric Solids Against Staining by
Streptoverticillium reticulum (A Pink Stain
Organism) |
|
|
|
In this test, samples are placed onto an agar plate that has been seeded with the bacterium,
Streptoverticillium reticulum and allowed to incubate for 14 days. Samples are evaluated for staining from the pink bacterium and also for any zone of inhibition that may result from leaching of an antimicrobial from the test material.
- If the test pieces are constructed of different materials on either side, 2 pieces of each surface shall be tested unless the customer indicates otherwise.
- Testing of both sides of the material constitutes 2 tests.
- Fresh cultures of the organism are required prior to test set up, bringing the turnaround time for this test to 3-4 weeks.
