In this test, insulation material is sprayed with a fungal spore suspension, incubated in a warm, humid environment and checked for fungal growth after 28 days of incubation. Longer incubations can be performed if the customer requests. An untreated control, comparative item or both are recommended in the method and are considered additional test samples.
- When an untreated control/comparative item is available, the grading criterion is “pass/fail”, relative to the comparative item.
- If no comparative item is available, the grading criterion is “growth/no growth”.
- This test has a 4-week incubation that can be extended upon request of the customer.
- Temperature and humidity are monitored with instrumentation that has been calibrated with NIST-traceable standards.
